In this stressful age we are living in, so many of us worry and become anxious about things – big and small. Many experience depression from too much of that. Some of us are addicted to worry, so to speak, as if we would feel lost for something to do if we did not have our worry-time each day. But scripture has a few things to say about this.

I am sure that you will go away from this post feeling lighter and comforted with a better understanding of what to do with cares and concerns - those things that worry you. Ask The Lord to make the following principles and examples of scripture clear to you, so you can really benefit from what you read.

Come with me!

1 Peter 5:7 in the New Testament says

New Living Translation Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

World English Bible Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

Weymouth New Testament Throw the whole of your anxiety upon Him, because He Himself cares for you.

I did a quick research of Psalm 55:23 and found the following paragraphs

by three Jewish writers who know their scriptures.

Revised Standard Version

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Names of God Bible

Turn your burdens over to Yahweh, and he will take care of you. He will never let the righteous person stumble.

Cast Down Your Load!

Friends, you've been carrying that burden for far too long. Enough already! Cast it off, and let Hashem, Who lovingly carries you and your load, do His work.

Yankel the peddler would travel from town to town, peddling his wares. Day after day he would drag his heavy cases and chests full of goods across the mud-ridden roads. One day, the owner of the wagon, seeing Yankel plodding along, bowing under the weight of his baggage, had stopped his coach, and was inviting Yankel to come along with him for the ride into the next town. Yankel happily accepted, and dragged his baggage up onto the carriage. He took a seat, and the wagon again began to move.

A few minutes later, the wagon-owner noticed that Yankel, seated in the wagon, still carried his entire burden upon his shoulders. "Yankel," he said, "why don't you put your bags down?" Remember scripture says "You open Your hand, and satisfy the needs of every living thing."

Let those of us with toilsome cares and weighty concerns wake up! Throw down your burden - and let Hashem, Who carries us and all our needs, do His work. This is precisely what David says in Psalms 55:23, "Throw your 'baggage' upon Hashem and He will sustain you."

Hashem means God, in original Hebrew, the Bible was written in.

Psalm 55:23

The writer of this story explains that so many people act like the peddler. They carry heavy burdens in life unnecessarily. We must realize that Hashem is carrying us anyway let Him carry your burden as well. Note that Hashem is not like human beings. When a person asks his fellow for a favor, the fellow will likely be happy to do it. When he is asked a second and third time, he will likely agree to the favor, but with less enthusiasm. Already by the fourth time, though, he will likely say, "Enough already!" and refuse to help. Hashem isn't like that. Whenever we "throw our burden" on Hashem, He responds favorably. Not only does He not get worn out by our repeated requests for help, but to the contrary,He gets closer to us the more we call out to Him. He loves when we ask Him for favors, and the more we ask, the more He loves to help us because we are looking to Him our Maker.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation and we wonder how it will ever work out; it seems impossible. We are so fortunate that we just need to turn to Hashem for help.

As the Torah says, whenever we call to Him, He is eagerly waiting to help us.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed, having too much to do and not having any idea how it will all get done. A person told me he was given extra responsibilities at work, and the situation was just impossible. There were simply not enough hours in the day to complete all he needed to do. Suddenly, a two-hour period which he had reserved for a separate project freed up. It was unmistakably through the Hand of God, He didn't lose any money, and now he has time to get everything done. No burden is too heavy for Hashem. We have the greatest source of help available to us at all times.

People sometimes think, "I don't want to bother Hashem with this one; it's too trivial a problem." There's no such thing as too trivial a problem. He can't wait for us to come and ask Him for help. We can bring Him any "load" we have. And the more we have for Him to "carry," the more He is willing to take on.

If we feel worried and anxious, this shows that we are still holding on to our bags, and refusing to put them down and let Hashem carry them for us.

Casting Your Burdens

"Cast your burden upon Hashem, and He will sustain you." (Psalms 55:23)

Everyone in the world has burdens. Some are heavier than others – some are lighter. You cannot always tell how heavy someone else's burden is; you only have the subjective experience of your own. But know, with clarity, that just as you have burdens, so does everyone else.

Here we have the ultimate advice on how to handle your burdens: do not do it alone. You never have to do it all yourself. As a matter of fact, it's impossible to do it all yourself. You can call upon the Almighty, your Father, your King, Creator and Sustainer of the universe to help you. Our verse tells us that you can give over your entire load of baggage to Hashem, and He will sustain you.

The term 'casting' is used by people who go fishing at the riverside. They take their fishing rod with them that has a long line on a reel. When they are ready to catch a fish, They take a firm hold of the handle of the rod, they release the reel from a locked position and they fling the rod (in their hand of-course) over from behind them (position) to over in front of them, and the line goes into the water. The object of this exercise is to cast the weight on the end of the line as far as they can from them into the water.

Now there is something else to keep in mind here. The 'Riverside is a pleasant and restful place, speaking of the Presence of The Lord. When we decide to “Cast our Cares on The Lord” (onto God) we do this best in the Presence of God. When we are at rest with Him (in His Presence) we find the confidence to let go of our problems – whatever is concerning us. Just like the person fishing, we need to cast the line as far as we can – without restraint, to get the best results. Some of us use a short line, so to speak, when we give our concerns to God. For us, without restraint means without reservation...... to know that He will take care of us.....He can handle it.

God's shoulders are bigger than ours. We don't have to wear a frown.

There is another scripture that speaks of casting our cares. It speaks of “Throwing off every weight that hinders us and run that race in God” just like an athlete will take off his weighty clothing and wear something light – the lighter the better – no heavy jeans and jackets, he/she must travel light for the best results.

Just like that big rainbow fish or ribbons at the finish of a race.......The Lord can also bring blessing and a sense of accomplishment our way, when we cast our cares on Him and commit our way to Him.

His word says that “He is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”.....it takes diligence to commit every care and concern to God.....aye? Remember, it is best if you do this by the riverside.

Be decided in your heart, that once those things (concerns) are given to God, you are not going to take them back. The athlete leaves his jacket back at the starting line.....he would not dare to run with it...... yet many of us attempt to run this race in God (journey) with jackets, baggage and everything else, saying to ourselves “what's wrong? something's wrong, I prayed about that”. So when we pray about something often, we need to do something. Just like we need to act in faith sometimes or repent, we need to fling aside things (cast them away from us and refuse to worry) we need to let go of them and commit them to The Lord.

He is saying to me that you cannot do this alone, that's why The Comforter has come (the Holy Spirit). He will guide you into the Truth (the realization) that your God is able, and that He does care about you…...that those who trust in Him do not trust Him in vain.....that He can make all blessing abound to you as you get good at it: the more faith and confidence you show in Him, the more He delights to reward that. Jesus said that He is not a stingy Father like some earthly parents.....He is not angry at us, He is not limited in resources. He is our Daddy, Elshadi: a Might Protector and Gracious Provider. He is Yahweh: the Great I AM – He is everything we need. The Shepherd and Savior, Lord and Deliverer, Creator and Sustainer.

The Amplified says:

“Cast your burden on the Lord (releasing the weight of it)” When you give things to The Lord, release the weight of them.

My advice to each of you is to go to the Riverside in times of need.

Yes, go to that spiritual River and be Refreshed.

FIND YOUR REST IN GOD!

I HOPE THIS HELPS

One of my other posts will compliment this well

Does God Seem Distant? Sometimes there is a matter of unconfessed sin. Maybe you have something against someone and won't let go of it.....maybe you have upset someone and not made amends? The Holy Spirit is sensitive when we deliberately choose to sin but sometimes there is no sin involved and we don't know what to make of God's seeming absence. I had the title come to mind to write on (When God Seems Distant) with a few thoughts. Later on waking, I felt to do a quick research and found a few links with the same title. I don't often do this. I feel to use one article as a basis to a message of Hope for Christians who are called to maturity in their walk at this time.

There is a Pastor and Theologian by the name of Steven J Cole whose article I can relate with from an experience I had in the 90's when I was living alone in isolated conditions with amplified hearing (there is a medical name for it).

During that time I became so distressed one day – clinically depressed in no small way – and I actually slammed a door (an absolute not to do when sounds are deafening) and called out “maybe now you will take responsibility for me" – it seemed like He did not care about the plight I was in and my urgent prayer just before that did not seem to make any difference. Don't judge me because that was not your set of circumstances.

I was actually distraught.

I am writing these things for your benefit. The Lord did actually heal and restore me not long after that from major depression and a broken spirit and my hearing followed as well. “He (also) brought me into a spacious place” the scripture speaks about and much blessing. So He was not offended at my honesty if you are. I once heard a Pastor say to a small group of women “if you have never been offended with God, you are not real”. He had major depression for some years but loved God enough to become a Pastor. He told us that one time he said “I hate you God” and he saw a vision of Jesus on the Cross looking with eyes of Love.....and the depression left him that day as he was embraced with His empathy.

I am not saying here to get angry at God but mention that moment the Pastor and myself had and that The Lord knows your heart if you have lost patience with God under pressure. You may gain some help here that we did not have.

For the purpose of this article, my writing will be in italics, so I do not receive any credit for the other author's writing.

He says, I believe that there are times in the life of every Christian, when even though you are walking by faith and there is no known sin in your life, God seems far away.

You pray, but God doesn’t answer. You may read the Bible, but it does not speak to you. You may seek God, but it seems as if He is hiding.

When that happens, you’re in good company. David, the man whom God called “a man after My own heart,” had that experience. He describes it in Psalm 13. Out of the depths of his heart David repeats a cry, “How long?” There is no indication in these verses that David had sinned. This Psalm tells you what to do when God seems distant.

When God seems distant, we must call to Him and trust in His unfailing love.

At those times when it seems as if God has turned His back, we must deliberately trust the fact that He loves us with an unfailing love, and that He will not forsake us, even though it may seem that way for a time.

Sometimes it seems as if God moves so slowly! We live in a day that says, “Hurry, hurry, hurry!” But so often God says, “Wait! Wait! Wait!” Someone said once “The trouble is, I’m in a hurry, but God isn’t.”

That is a time when the enemy can try to undermine your Faith in God, giving you reasons why you should doubt Him......bringing up all the evidence (so to speak). At times like that - if ever you've experience this - do not verbalize negative and vexatious thoughts out loud, because of the power of words shown in scripture, it can compound the problem by giving the enemy more ground.

That actually happened to me. One day I said to myself (audibly) "you have a big enemy and a little God" in discust with myself because I could not see Him as more powerful. Then aware of what was happening (the lies of the enemy) I said to myself audibly again "lies, nothing but lies!" a few times, and that's what I ended up with.

God's Mercy did get me out of it "He reached down and drew me out" like the scripture says, but with knowledge, that could have been avoided.

Have you ever noticed the difference between God’s timetable and ours? We think in terms of minutes, hours, and days, but God works in terms of years. When God seems distant, it always affects our emotions.

At times when we are disturbed about such things, we need to take a calm and collective view of encouraging scriptures in quiet meditation. "Why are you so disquietened oh my soul? I'll hope now in God for I shall again praise Him - He's my Refuge and my Strength"

When I was young in The Lord, I heard a prophetic word one day in a service that said "My Peace cannot rest on a troubled spirit" why is that? Because our emotions become turbulent. So we need to take a few deep breaths (naturally speaking) and then regain our composure. It's easier to trust The Lord when we are at rest. Learn to calm yourself like a child at it's mother's breast and lean on God, casting all your care and concern on Him acknowledging that He does Care for you.

God does seemingly forget some of His choicest servants, as we have seen. Joseph, Paul, David – all of them were shut up in unpleasant circumstances during which it seemed that God had forgotten. Do you know what was happening during that time? God was building maturity into those men as they learned to trust Him. Just as it takes years to grow a sturdy oak tree, so it takes years to build the godly character qualities needed to be an effective servant of the Lord.

I can testify to this and a few Christian friends who really love The Lord can also. He does take you into a Spacious Place whereby you are not only blessed but you also become a blessing to others to give them hope.

This is not a time for you to neglect your Christian growth but to press into God.

The more faithful you are in this can shorten this time because you are responding

in the way He wants us to at this time. Take care, others are there with you

in this process. It is not a comfortable time and you will come out of it.

There is no such thing as 'instant godliness'. We have instant everything in our society, but there is no instant godliness. David was anointed as king in his teens. He had a strong faith at that time, as seen in his victory over Goliath. Did God put him on the throne when he turned twenty-one? No. Twenty-five? No. Twenty-six? Twenty-seven? Twenty-eight? Twenty-nine? No. Through all those years of running from Saul and living in caves, David learned to wait upon God. God was developing His man.

That’s so out of place with our rush-rush world! But that’s how God works. If God has you shut up in some frustrating circumstances; and you have racked your brain trying to figure a way out, but nothing has worked; and you see the godless prospering while you suffer; and it seems like God is far away; hang on! Let God do His perfect work in you. He hasn’t forgotten you. Learn to wait on Him.

This is such a restless world we live in, eager to go here and go there, anxious to do this and do that; impatient with anything and anyone who gets in their way. And yes, it's so true 'everything must be instant' - the car, the house, the furnishings etc and all their dreams must be realized straight away, leaving no element of surprise and if plans are made, it's for 'today, today!'

It's inevitable that a little of that is going to affect us in some shape or form.

I mean to say, we are exposed to this environment on a daily basis.

Don't let it shape you and your expectations in God. Separate yourself mentally and spiritually from it. And by the way, you cannot do that with TV programs and movies by the dozen each week that goes by - for sure, that will lodge somewhere in your brain and deficit valuable time you could invest in God.

He has Good Plans for each one of our lives. How can you discover them on a

junk diet like that? "Acquaint yourself with God and be at Peace, thereby Good will

come to you". You want to experience His Goodness don't you?

God has not forgotten you! "Can a woman forget her nursing child, and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.’“ ‘I will never leave you or forsake you’“.

This is a time for staying close to the scriptures and the Holy Spirit can develop a capacity in you for waiting on God and trusting Him. We need to learn how to lean on God instead of doing things in our own strength, for the days ahead of us when He unlocks His Power and Wisdom in Grace for those around us and Jesus becomes visible in this Earth again, through us.

A word of encouragement to you He just gave me is "He is no man's debtor".

If you trust Him and allow Him to do a work in you, He will prove Himself Faithful.

For now, He asks you to be faithful and patient in the process.

Notice in Psalm 13 that David changed his focus! From focusing on himself and his problems at the start of the psalm, David shifted his thoughts to God’s

loyal love and salvation. That shift in focus moved him from confusion and depression to joy and praise!

He chose to interpret his circumstances by God’s love rather than to interpret God’s love by his circumstances. In a time of trial, the enemy tries to get us to doubt God’s love. But we must resist that temptation and affirm with God’s Word that He “causes all things to work together for good to those who love God” .

CHOICE is the most powerful attribute God has given us - consider it a GIFT

and use it Wisely:

By Choice we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

By Choice we receive Healing and Provision.

By Choice we decide how we will spend our Time, our Money.

By Choice we have certain Values and Ethics.

When God seems distant, join David in deliberately trusting in God’s unfailing love, whatever the winds of circumstance. As David wrote in Psalms “As high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving-kindness toward those who fear Him.” You can count on it, even when your circumstances seem contrary. He is only taking you through it to develop maturity and godly character. “But it’s been months! Years!” Yes, that’s the way He works. He builds things to last, and that takes time. But the finished product is so much better in quality than quick imitations that don’t develop trust in the Living God.

May Christ be With your Spirit

I have to share this with you. It's pretty good! The Lord has brought up prophetically with me several times through the years, the importance of Meditating on His Word AND what I Confess with my Mouth......... 3 times for each through different servants of God......so I take this to mean that both are equally important. I have neglected the confession side of things for some time, even when He has stressed the importance of it. I once said to myself, I cannot leave this any longer and am sharing this with you so you can benefit from this too. The Lord has shown me several times this year that mental assent (information we know) gains nothing.....it is what we are currently practicing that does and will reward us more than we know.

This is an important message for your walk with God if any message was.

Here you will see something Jesus encouraged that is usually not seen or neglected that can make all the difference - when your heart and mouth are lined up with His Words. Don't let New-Age Affirmations and the Law of Attraction put you off. This is founded in Scripture, they are counterfeits.

In most counterfeits, there is an element of truth mixed with lies (like there was in the Garden of Eden). Therefore, we need to ask ourselves what truth we could be kicking out if we throw out the baby with the bath water.

I am writing about this on Called to Be Free because of the importance in enjoying freedom in Christ. Negative, bad and sad words attract the same and give us nothing to rejoice about. The reason is that our God and Creator looks for His words in our mouths to perform them.......the enemy also waits to hear negative content so he can cheat us

out of the Abundant life that Jesus promised us.That's why he plays on our thoughts often, so we say the wrong thing. He knows there's power in words if we don't. He saw the Earth and Universe created with them before we were born. And he also saw us created in the Image of God. We often think of the enemy as a threat but actually, he sees us as one and likes to keep us ignorant if he can.

JESUS DID NOT SAY THAT LIFE WOULD BE EASY

BUT HE DID SAY THAT WE COULD HAVE A GOOD LIFE.

Tom Brown who teaches about Positive Confession of God's word says that Christians often get nervous and ask him "Do you believe in positive confession?"

I answer them, "No! I believe in the positive confession OF GOD'S WORD!" You see, it is not simply "positive confession" that is powerful. It is the confession of "God's Word" that is powerful! I don't believe in speaking just anything and think that it is going to come to pass. No, I believe in speaking God's Word.

God's Word is what is powerful, not my word.

Someone might say, "If I confessed that I was going to be a millionaire, do you think I'm going to be one?" First of all, why do you confess that you are going to be a millionaire? "Because I want to be one."

Fine, but where in the Bible does God promise to make you a millionaire? Nowhere does it promise you that. God does not promise to make you a millionaire. He has promised to "supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." So put that promise in your mouth. Confess, "My God shall supply all my needs according to God's riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Now you are confessing God's Word. That Word is imperishable and incorruptible. However, saying that you are going to be a millionaire is like planting perishable seed—most likely it will not come to pass.

The Power of Resistance

A brother called Mark says: Let me ask you a question. Have you ever awoke in the morning with the symptoms of let’s say the flu on a workday? You remember that if you miss work then your paycheck will not be enough to make your house payment, so you FORCE yourself out of bed and you MAKE yourself go to work despite how you feel. Now after you have been at work for a while you suddenly realize that the SYMPTOMS of the flu you had that morning are no longer present in your body. So I ask you what happened to those symptoms that seemed so real a few hours earlier?

I will tell you exactly what happened, you RESISTED the TEMPTATION to lay in bed and give into the SYMPTOMS of the flu. You RESISTED the devil and he FLED from you! It doesn’t matter whether or not you knew this is what you were doing at the time, but this is a principal or law that God has established much like the law of gravity and will always work. You see the law of gravity works whether you believe it or not, but the more you know about how the law of gravity works the more you will be able to have it work to your advantage and not have it work against you. Therefore the more you know how the law of FAITH works the more effective you will be in overcoming the enemy.

We are told in Hebrews 11:3 that the very world in which we live in was framed by the Word of God. Numerous times in Genesis we read the words

And God SAID let there be…and it was.”

Speaking faith filled words is God’s WAY to bring things into existence. And we are created in his very own IMAGE. So just as a child IMITATES his parents so should we as God's children IMITATE our heavenly Father who created us

in his IMAGE and LIKENESS.

If we want to speak and say what God's word says and be in agreement with the word of God, then we will have to spend time reading and studying his word. We must meditate, think and ponder on the things of God through the day on a daily basis, then when his word is written upon our hearts in abundance our speaking will become positive and we will bring forth good things in our life. And we will rid our heart and mouth of any negativity that only produces evil in our life.

God says “Death and life are in the POWER of the TONGUE; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

If you love someone or something you will spend your time and ATTENTION toward them or it. If you are NOT a doer of God’s word, but a hearer only, then you are deceiving your own self as James 1:22 tells us, and you will not mix faith with what you have heard. Developing our faith is a choice we make. Wherever we choose to spend our time is what we will become most highly developed.

Now if you CHOOSE to believe God’s word and begin to speak positively and in line with the word of God to become a doer of the word and not a hearer only as James 1:19 tells us, then the temptation to talk negatively will surely come. But if we LOVE our tongue as the word of God says, then we will PAY ATTENTION and recognize the wiles of the enemy when he tries to use our words against us. We will then GUARD the words we speak. It will get easier in time.

Tom Brown says: Words are like seeds. When we speak, those words are planted into our lives. Later we reap the harvest from our lips. At the same time we have learned that not everything we say comes to pass. The reason is simple: Because of the Fall our words have lost the original power they had. When Adam sinned, he died spiritually.

In order to get back the original power of words, we must be born again. The new birth is a spiritual rebirth. To be born again means that our spirit becomes alive, just like Adam's spirit was before he sinned.

Real power is in the human spirit, not in the body or the mind.

Now it is still possible to be born again and not have much power in your words. The reason is simple: your born-again spirit must be cultivated. Your spirit can grow just like the body and mind can grow and expand. The more it grows the stronger it gets.

He says to make God's Seeds our Seeds.

That Peter calls God's Word "seed." Man's words are "seeds" too. What's the difference between God's words and man's words? Peter described God's Word as "imperishable" seed. "perishable" means incapable of dying. Everything that God speaks is Alive.

No word from God is dead.

I have planted many things in my life, including flowers and trees. In my experience, some of the things I planted grew and some did not grow at all; some grew at the beginning and died later. Everything did not grow perfectly, because natural seeds are perishable. Some seeds produce, some don't.

The reason is simple: words are perishable—subject to death. Everything in this world is subject to death, including words. This is why your words can fail to come to pass. There is only one thing in this world that is imperishable: The word of God. God's Word is imperishable seed. It will come to pass...all the time.

Life and death refer to things that are positive, wholesome and Good from God.

And what is negative, destructive and bad from the evil-one. We don't want those things in our lives, so God is giving us a CHOICE to keep speaking His Words of Life into each day and all circumstances. Sing positive Cheerful Scripture Songs as well.....they really lift your spirit so you find yourself rejoicing in the Goodness of God!

The Lord showed Joyce Myer, it is important what we Say with our mouths, not only what we refrain from that makes the difference. First, He taught her what

Not to Say and then He went a step further and showed her What to Say. So both should be inseparable. Many of us take the 1st step and not the second. Like the Holy Spirit showed a good friend recently: it is vitally important to give Jesus something to work with as the High Priest of our Confession. The content above sheds light on this, referring to Jesus as the Administrator of our Words (scripture words, positive, cheerful). My good friend will leave many of us for miles if we don't catch up with him........because he just had an unveiling of this and is running with it.

Let us run with him this race. In scripture, Joshua did, David did and Jesus did. The word 'meditate' in Josh 1 actually means to say to yourself verbally in the original Hebrew.......David always practiced the principle of confession and Jesus confessed scriptures many times in the new testament. So there is plenty encouragement for us to do the same. And I pray God's richest blessings for you "this is my God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect" (I just heard these words in my spirit).

A song says "yes God is Good, He is Good to me".
