Organic Gardening Tips

You will also find some SECRETS of Good Gardeners

you would have not thought of that I have discovered in my research

for my gardening ventures in 2012-2014.

I have placed some Special Info and YouTube links

on how to grow your own tomatoes - even with limited space.

And also, some really good ways you can feed your Veges and stimulate growth.

If you watch the following Videos, you will see just how synthetically many of our tomatoes and greens are grown with chemicals and totally unnatural procedures, foreign to these plants. You will see different aspects right from the start all the way to packing that gives you an idea of the foods

we are often buying and ingesting.

This also explains why store bought tomatoes are so expensive today.....hey?

GROWING TOMATOES NATURALLY

Spank your TOMATOES for bigger harvests. Plus pruning and using apple juice for setting blossoms!

Keep your tomato plants "in line" by lightly spanking them. It helps with pollenation, stimulates growth, and keeps them from misbehaving :) We also talk about pruning tomato branches & suckers, the use of …....... This is not plant abuse, it is a special tapping method.

Tomato Growing Tips

by Don Burke

Tomatoes need

* Full sun; ie, 8 hours direct sunlight daily

* Deep, free-draining, fertile soil

* Consistent moisture

* Regular feeding

* Shelter from strong winds

* Support of a stake (sometimes)

Varieties

There’s a huge choice available in tomatoes, so read the label carefully, or ask the staff at the garden centre, to find out which type is which when you’re shopping for seedlings. In general, though there are two main types of tomato plants:

Tall-growing varieties:these reach 2m or more and require the support of one or more stakes.

Bush types:these reach waist or knee height and do not need the support of a stake. In the bush class, there are also dwarf and pendulous forms which are suitable for hanging baskets.

Planting tips

Choose a sunny spot. Dig the planting site over well. For each plant prepare a square of soil 60cm x 60cm. Dig it over to the depth of the blade of a spade then add two or three cupped handfuls of Dynamic Lifter. Dig this through until the soil is fine and crumbly. If you are planting more than one tomato plant, space them about a metre apart. If you’re growing a tall-growing variety which will need a stake, add the stake now, at planting time. As the tomato plant grows, tie it to the stake to keep it stable and prevent damage from strong winds.

Tomatoes in pots

Tomatoes in pots are much more susceptible to drying out than those in the ground. So, if at all possible, grow your tomatoes in the ground. However, the best tomatoes for pots are the smaller-growing bush types.

Pot shape/size:

use a big pot – at least twice the size of a bucket. A shape that is as wide as it is tall, or just a little taller, is good.

Cool walls:

put the pot inside another, bigger pot – this shades the wall of the pot, stopping the potting mix from heating up in the sun.

IMPORTANCE OF USING LIQUID SEAWEED!

With Organic Gardening, please remember that Tap Water contains 3 Halogens_ Bromide, Chloride and Fluoride that are toxic to our health. So try to use Tank Water or similar if possible. If you have to use tap water, it would be good to use Liquid Seaweed on a regular basis because it has a good content of Iodine that helps to counteract Chlorine, Fluoride and Bromine and heavy metals as well. If the Iodine in Kelp does this for us, then Liquid Seaweed (kelp) must do the same for our soil.

Use Liquid Seaweed

One bottle goes a long way. You dilute it with water. I use Seasol.

It's Organic - no sneaky Chemicals added!

If you live in a different country than Australia, check the Labels thoroughly.

I don't use MaxiCrop anymore.

I'm fussy for my Plants - Have to be!

The liquid Seaweed protects plants from setback when you transplant them. Your plants will also adapt to hot and cold weather conditions much better. An absolute must with the Climate Changes, especially in Summer, Gardeners and Plants alike are coping with. They're out there all day!

And please, always Water your Plants AND Fruit Trees early in the Morning, before the heat of the day,

so all their follicles get to take in that nice cool water to condition them for the day ahead.

Besides, you may like evening watering but your Plants prefer morning. That's how Nature works Best.

A professional Gardener told me years ago that watering in the evening is Not Good for our Plants

anyway - it's bad for the roots, they need to have a good breather at night.

When using Liquid Seaweed products, do follow the Directions

on the Label - especially with Fruit Trees.

CAUTION TO GARDENERS!

I sited this advertisement 4am today

and thought to tell you immediately.

"Earthcare Water Crystals (from the maker of Seasol)

These crystals have the ability to absorb up to 500 times their weight in water with 95% of this water and nutrient readily available for the plant to take it up when needed.

The crystals are non toxic and have an effectiveness in the soil for up to 5 years."

(They Claim)

It contains Polyacrylamide!

Acrylamlide: Uses:

Acrylamide is the building block for the polymer, polyacrylamide, which is considered a non-toxic additive. However, polyacrylamide may be contaminated with its toxic building block, acrylamide! And Acrylamide

IS TOXIC....... They're always trying to tell us that a different form of a Toxic Chemical is not.

Do you really believethat?

(Read the PDF about Water Chrystals)

FOLLOWING THIS, I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT THE WETTASOIL GRANULES BY AMGROW

THAT HAS THE TRUSTED ENVIRONMENTAL LABEL WITH THE FROG ILLUSTRATED.

IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY TWO WELL MEANING WORKERS AT MY LOCAL GARDEN NURSERY.

WHEN I ASKED THEM IF IT IS ORGANIC, THEY SAID "I DON'T THINK IT IS......OR.....I AM NOT SURE"

SO WATCH OUT FOR THOSE WETTER SOIL TYPE PRODUCTS

I DON'T CARE WHO MADE THEM!!!

You would be far better with ZEOLITE

Naturally occurring from Volcanic Lava

Zeolite - Safer than WettaSoil Products

It has a number of Benefits to your Soil and Plants

and it lasts Permanently!

Zeolite - The Great Soil Improver

Zeolite is a naturally occurring mineral with a highly porous atomic structure and a negative charge allowing it to attract and hold water soluble cations including ammonium, potassium, magnesium and calcium.

For the home gardener is has three highly valuable attributes:

1. Acts as a natural wetting agent (it is the major ingredient in the high quality wetting agents)

and as a distributor of water

2. Increases the effectiveness of fertilizers by holding nutrients and making them available to plants when the plant needs them. Prevents the leaching of nutrients through the soils and helps avoid the nutrification of waterways.

3. Doesn’t wash away or decompose, aiding in long-term soil quality improvements and better plant yields

Other Benefits :

  • Improves long term soil quality and moisture levels
  • Improves soil structure
  • Increases cation exchange in soil
  • Lightly alkaline pH level helps sweeten soil
  • Improves fertilizer efficiency
  • Improves plant growth and yields
  • Reduces watering
  • Reduces offensive odours in composting
  • Long lasting, does not break down in soil
  • Environmentally friendly

USED IN MODERATION IT CAN BENEFIT YOUR SOIL.

USED IN EXCESS IT CAN AFFECT THE NITROGEN, AMMONIA AND CALCIUM

IN YOUR SOIL - ALL VITAL FOR YOUR PLANT'S GROWTH AND NUTRITION

Because EarthCare has made a mistake, don't make the same mistake.

Zeolite is so safe it is used in Aquariums!
